The Glenlivet and Glen Grant Distillery Visitor Centres

Practice Responsibilities
Consulting Civil & Structural Engineering

The Chivas and Glenlivet Group decided that, because these distilleries are located along the Speyside Whisky Trail, they required their visitor centres to be upgraded, to complement their new marketing strategy and product image.

The Glenlivet Distillery Visitor Centre entailed upgrading of the old visitor centre, which was located in the former warehouse and grainstore, and involved the introduction of audio-visual display, lift and ramp access for the disabled, and a new ceilidh / function suite in the top floor attic accommodation in the former grainstore.

The Glen Grant Visitor Centre upgrade involved the improvement of the existing centre and boardroom, and the conversion of the former joiner shop into new exhibition space and shop.

External works included the construction of a footpath from the car parking area through an informal woodland with a bridge link across the Back Burn to the visitor centre, and continuing onto a formal Victorian garden located at the head of the Back Burn valley.
