The design requirement was for a 2 km funicular railway. 1.8 km of the railway is supported on a reinforced concrete viaduct, while the upper 200m of railway is constructed within a cut and cover tunnel.
The project also involved the design of new top and bottom stations, a new sewerage treatment plant for a population, equivalent of 1500, and a pumped water supply system working at a pressure of 32 bar.
